Greetings from St Helens Guest House where a warm welcome awaits you. It is situated within walking distance of the main facilities in Banff but has the advantage of a secluded site with private walled gardens.

Welcome to St. Helens

St Helens is a Victorian Merchant's house. It was completed in the last quarter of the 19th century and you will notice that many of the original features can still be seen.

In our dining room you will see much of the original woodwork with the pinecone finials - this wood came from America and the craftsmen who built it didn't have the use of a Black & Decker!

Breakfast is whatever time you would like to have it.  We are also happy to provide you with packed lunches for any 'expeditions.' Let us know if you have any particular dietary requirements and we will be happy to cater for them.

St. Helens Library We provide daily papers and magazines and are happy to order any particular requests. Feel free to borrow any of the books - we try to cater for all tastes! A number of local writers have stayed at St. Helens and copies of some of their work are available for you to read.

Beside the dining room you'll find the Sky - not Skye - room. There you can relax in comfortable chairs and watch Sky digital television - hence the name of the room.

Our vestibule contains a collection of hats - many of which we have brought back from our travels.

The large mirror - supposedly came out of Duff House in 1906 when all the contents were auctioned.

The bedrooms are large with ensuite or private facilities. We have tried to keep the decor and furnishings in keeping with the style of St. Helens.

Relax in the comfort of your room.

St. Helens Bedroom

The front bedrooms all have views over Duff House and the Deveron Valley - many of our guests have brought fine salmon from the river - and many have got away (they tend to be larger than the caught ones!). We have a large freezer should you wish to have a go.

Fraxinus Pendula (Weeping Ash) You will be able to see Duff House Royal Golf Club - a real favourite with our guests who can get a 15% discount on green fees. The course has beautiful views of the river Deveron and of Duff House - a fine country picture gallery where concerts are often held. Many of the singers, dancers and musicians have stayed with us at St. Helens.

What is that strange looking tree at the front of St. Helens? - its a Fraxinus Pendula or Weeping Ash - last to get its leaves and last to lose them each season. We hope you will feel free to enjoy the garden while you are here.

You may park your car (with your boat) in our private grounds.

At St. Helens you will find the charms of the past combined with the comforts of today's living. St. Helens is privately owned and operated by a small number of staff dedicated to providing old-fashioned personal service. It has all the ingredients to make a splendid holiday or an enjoyable business stay. We place particular emphasis on creating a relaxing and friendly atmosphere in our home.

We can provide you with a range of information - what to see, what's on, where to eat. You will find a brochure in your bedroom, which covers a wide variety of facilities and events. A hairdryer, iron, shoe-cleaning kit and pay phone are available.

We really hope you will enjoy your visit with us. If there is anything you need to know about your stay at St. Helens or the area of Banff please write, telephone or e-mail us.
